Teasley Performance in Iraq

American percussionist Tom Teasley toured four cities in Iraq, performing solo, conducting master classes and jamming with various Iraqi musicians during the month of December 2010.  As part of the Department of State’s Cultural Envoy program, the Embassy’s Cultural Affairs Office invited Tom Teasley to share his unique fusion of musical styles with a wide variety of Iraqis, including poets, diplomats, students, government officials, musicians, alumni, journalists, among others. His media engagements, education outreach and live performances entertained and educated over 500 Iraqis during this twelve-day trip to Baghdad, Erbil, Basra and Dhi Qar.  While in Baghdad, Mr. Teasley performed a special joint concert at the U.S. Embassy with members of the Iraq National Symphony Orchestra and renowned Iraqi ‘oud player Duarid Fadhil.
