Joint Statement Condemning Shooting and Bombing By Ambassador Christopher R. Hill and General Ray Odierno Condemning the Shooting and Bombing in the Mosque in Tal Afar
The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and Multi-National Force - Iraq strongly condemn the shooting and bombing yesterday inside a mosque in Tal Afar, in Nineveh Province. This barbaric attack against innocent people is a criminal act of terrorism against the Iraqi people. It demands the condemnation of the international community. It is particularly heinous that the terrorists targeted a place of peace and worship.
We mourn the senseless loss of life and extend our condolences to the victims' families, friends, and community. The people of Iraq are clearly resolved to reject those who offer only violence and hate. The United States continues to support the people and government of Iraq as they move forward toward peace, national unity, and democracy.
