Statement By U.S. Embassy Baghdad on the Conviction and Sentencing of the Kidnapper of Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho

We welcome today’s statement by the Government of Iraq on the conviction and sentencing by the Iraqi Central Criminal Court of the individual responsible for the kidnapping and subsequent death of Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho in February.
Reiterating our condolences to the Archbishop's family and community, we commend the Iraqi authorities for bringing the perpetrator of this brutal crime to justice. We will continue to support the Iraqi government in its efforts to protect all Iraqis, regardless of religious affiliation, against violence and criminal acts.
