The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for two U.S. Government-sponsored exchange programs aimed at fostering mutual understanding and developing leadership skills. The programs provide Iraqi students and academics with networking and professional development opportunities with their American peers and colleagues. These programs work to support the goals of the U.S.-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen the connections between the people of the United States and Iraq.

  • Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP): This program will provide 170 Iraqi high school and undergraduate students a unique exchange experience in the United States during summer 2013. The high school program is a four-week youth leadership exchange for Iraqi teenagers ages 15-17 and Iraqi adult mentors. The undergraduate program is a six-week leadership exchange program for students in their first, second, and third years of university. To apply for the high school program, visit http://regonline.com/IYLEP-HS. To apply to be an adult mentor, visit http://www.regonline.com/IYLEP-HSadult. The program is open to full-time Iraqi university faculty with fluency in English and a strong commitment to classroom teaching.
