Political-Military Affairs Section
The Political-Military section is dedicated to coordinating security policy and major operational issues with U.S. forces and with the Iraqi government's military and civilian leadership, as well as to strengthening Embassy ties with Iraqi Security Forces commands.
The section serves as a bridge to the U.S. military and to partner governments on a wide range of issues including civil-military assistance cooperation; regional security planning and initiatives; detainee affairs; and Iraqi security force development. The section also manages a multi-million dollar State Department-funded humanitarian demining program in operation throughout Iraq.
