To Kill A Mockingbird Presentation
To mark the 50th anniversary of the classic American novel To Kill A Mockingbird, the Cultural Affairs Office presented the Oscar-winning 1962 film starring Gregory Peck to an English language class from Baghdad University’s Liberal Arts College. The event consisted of the two hour film followed by a question and answer period moderated by Russell Brooks, Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer. The students and faculty thoroughly enjoyed the film and asked numerous questions afterward about life in the United States during that period in history, the reception the book received upon publication, and the fairness of the U.S. judicial system. As a gift from the U.S. Embassy, each member of the class was given a copy of the book To Kill A Mockingbird.
