U.S. Universities Eager to Receive Iraqi Scholarship Students
Education Adviser Lorna Middlebrough promoted Iraqi scholarship students to more than 325 U.S. university representatives at the EducationUSA Forum 2011 event in Washington, DC in June. Lorna described the three official scholarship programs funded by the Government of Iraq Ministry of Higher Education, the Kurdistan Regional Government Ministry of Higher Education, and The Higher Committee for Education Development (HCED) program. All the U.S. universities were very excited to learn about these scholarship programs and how they could bring Iraqi students to their campuses.
Lorna also suggested ways that U.S. universities could recruit scholarship students, especially for Master’s and PhD programs. Many U.S. universities can offer Conditional Admission to Iraqi scholarship students so they can study an Intensive English program before they take their TOEFL and GRE tests. They encouraged Iraqi scholarship students to work with EducationUSA Iraq to gain Conditional Admission.
