For the first time ever, the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is accepting applications for the International Fulbright Science and Technology Award for Outstanding Foreign Students, a worldwide competition for exceptional students of science, technology and engineering who demonstrate unique aptitude and innovation. The award, which is among the most prestigious international scholarships of its kind, is for Ph.D. study at top U.S. institutions.
Applicants must be Iraqi citizens and hold a bachelor’s degree before August 1, 2008. It is highly recommended that applicants choose for their Ph.D. study a field that is related to (if not the same as) the field in which they received their undergraduate degree. Successful candidates will begin their studies in August/September 2008.
Eligible fields include aeronautics and astronomics/aeronautical engineering, astronomy/planetary sciences, biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, computer sciences/engineering, energy, engineering (electrical, chemical, civil, mechanical, ocean, and petroleum), environmental science/engineering, geology/earth and atmospheric sciences, information sciences/engineering, materials science/engineering, mathematics, neuroscience/brain and cognitive sciences, oceanography, and physics.
