What is a Visa?
A visa is issued by a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. A visa entitles the holder to travel to the United States and apply for admission; it does not guarantee entry. An immigration inspector at the port of entry determines the visa holder’s eligibility for admission into the United States.
What Types of Visas Are Available?
- Temporary Visitor visas for tourism, business, work, or study.
Note: The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is accepting applications for all classifications of Non-immigrant Visas except for Temporary Visitor visas for tourism and business (B1/B2).
Who Needs a Visa?
All Iraqi citizens require a visa to enter the United States.
Travelers holding dual-citizenship with the United States will not be issued a visa, and must enter the United States using their American passport.
If you are a student or exchange visitor wishing to travel soon, or if you are seeking urgent medical care in the United States, you may request an expedited appointment by sending an email to BaghdadNIV@state.gov
