Under Secretary Karen Hughes Visits Baghdad

U/S Hughes today addressed an audience of nearly 300 Iraqis and Americans who had gathered at the Al Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad’s Green Zone to participate in an “American Voices” celebration of African American History Month

February 17, 2007 -- The audience of the American Voices Celebration of African American History Month included Iraqi students from the Baghdad Ballet School. U/S Hughes addressed the audience at the opening of the celebration and talked about the importance of cultural events in countries all over the world and finding common bridges of understanding through avenues that build rather than destroy.
