It is with a profound sense of sadness and regret that we announce the loss of a State Department contractor as the result of a rocket attack in Basra, Iraq on September 22, 2006. As a member of our Embassy community, this American citizen worked toward assisting the people of Iraq build a stable, democratic, and prosperous country. On behalf of the U.S. Embassy and the entire American community in Iraq, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of our colleague. ###
