I-130 Checklist

I-130 Checklist

This is the list of required items to file an immigrant visa petition (I-130).  For civil documents, submit the original document (bearing an original seal, stamp or signature of the office of record) plus one photocopy. For all foreign language documents, provide English translations that are signed and certified by the translator.

 Documents required in all cases:

  • I-130 petition form for each beneficiary whom you sponsor for immigration. At the bottom of the first page of the I-130, please write an email address where we can reach the petitioner.
  • G-325A biographic information form. The petitioner and the beneficiary should each complete two originally signed copies of Form G-325A.
  • Fee (US $420 cash or international credit card) for each petition filed.
  • Petitioner's evidence of residency for the preceding 6 months. Evidence may be an Iraqi ID card, residence stamp in passport, or travel orders for US government direct hire employees.
  • Color Photograph: A 5cm x 5cm (2" x 2") photo with a white background, taken within the last six months. Please submit one photo of the petitioner and one for each beneficiary. Read the full requirements.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship: original passport, Consular Report of Birth Abroad, Certificate of Naturalization, or Certificate of Citizenship
  • Petitioner's passport. Copy only the picture ID page.
  • Copy of Beneficiary's Passport. Copy the picture ID page and any U.S. visas.
  • Beneficiary's ID card (jensiyah)
  • Beneficiary's birth certificate or family book

 Documents Required if Applicable:

  • Proof of Relationship: Please submit evidence of the relationship between the petitioner and beneficiary such as photos, emails, letters, school records, phone bills, instant messenger transcripts, etc.  Studio photographs are not useful in documenting the relationship. If you are petitioning for your spouse, please also provide a written statement in English describing how you met.
  • Marriage certificate
  • Termination of prior marriages. Submit a divorce decree, annulment decree, or death certificate for all prior marriages of the petitioner and/or the beneficiary.
  • Birth certificate or Consular Report of Birth Abroad for beneficiary's children.
  • Adoption Decree for children you or the beneficiary adopted in another country. Iraq does not allow adoptions.

Do not mail anything to the Embassy – you must present all documents in person when you file the I-130.
