"Picturing America" Exhibit Opens at American Corner in Erbil
July 2 RRT Team Leader Lucy Tamlyn opened the "Picturing America" exhibit at the American Corner at the Zaytun Public Library to coincide with the July 4th Independence Day celebration. The opening was also attended by the Library Director, students, and university faculty, and received extensive media coverage.
RRT Erbil Enables English Language Curriculum Evaluation Conference
June 28 The Kurdistan Region Minister of Education, Dr. Dilshad, opened a three-day conference to evaluate the region's English language curriculum and textbooks for grades 1-3 and 7-9. The conference was made possible by a micro-grant from the Erbil RRT.

Jan. 27, 2009 A new American Corner was officially re-opened January 27 at Erbil's Zaytun public library by U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker, Acting KRG Minister of Culture Madhi Almandalawi, Erbil Deputy Governor Tahir Abdullah Othman, Republic of Korea Consul Park Bong-su, and Zaytun Public Library Director Zahir Abdullah.
