Ambassador Hill visit to the Iraq National Museum
U.S. Ambassador Christopher R. Hill visited the Iraq National Museum on May 30. Mr. Mohsen Hasan, Deputy Director General of Iraqi Museums guided him through the museum's newly opened galleries which feature artifacts from ancient Mesopotamia through the Islamic period. U.S. Embassy Baghdad supports the museum through the Iraq Cultural Heritage Project to provide infrastructure and technical assistance.
Project goals include designing and implementing new collections storage systems, upgrading lighting and display cases for museum galleries, upgrading the conservation laboratory and the museum's air conditioning system. The project will also support professional development training and workshops for museum staff.
